Final Week!

Week 10 is our final week and the schedule is based solely off the season's field standings. Field points will be worth TRIPLE in our final week!

Even week means:
Two pitch
Bunting IS allowed

The additional rule this week is Chinese Fire Drill! A maximum 3 times per game the kicking team may yell "Chinese Fire Drill" and force the fielders to switch up positions. All fielders must move to a new position within 30 seconds. The "fire drill" call can only happen while play is dead.

Bonus point opportunity: #boardlove
Buy a drink for a board member, take a photo and post it with your final blog post for 1 bonus point. Don't know who the board members are? There a tab with their names, photos and an about me section above!

Chris Kim will DJ to close the season out. Bring your dancing shoes!

Week 9 is THEME WEEK!

Chris Kim will be spinning at Happy. Bring your dancing shoes!

There are NO GAMES THIS SUNDAY 11/29.  Enjoy your Thanksgiving holiday and we will be back at it on 12/6 for theme week (Bad Family Photos)!

Week 8

BAR GAMES ARE WORTH DOUBLE POINTS THIS WEEK!

It is an even week which means:
Two pitch
Bunting IS allowed

Additional wacky rule:
The scores do NOT count. What's that mean? Just what it sounds like - playing for good, old fashioned FUN! Play people in positions you never would, run your kicking lineup backwards, be silly and get creative. Official field scores will be treated as 0-0 ties. HOWEVER, if a team does not provide their required refs (remember - you need 3!) or have enough people at their game to play then forfeits will still be handed out. Forfeits result in an automatic 0-5 fielding loss so don't have the other team a free win! Come out and remember the spirit of the game.

BONUS POINT OPPORTUNITY!
#Reflove: Buy a drink for one of your refs, take a picture and post it on your blog page for one extra point.

Note on refs: Your captains should be the only ones discussing calls with the refs. Please be kind and respectful to all refs. It's just a game guys!

Week 5

It is an ODD week which means...

Pitch to your own team
Bunting is NOT allowed

The additional wacky rule is Ladies Night! There will be 4 outs per inning. Any fly balls caught by ladies will count for TWO outs!

Week 5 is also game week. The game will be SPEED BEER PONG!  Stay tuned on Facebook for info from your game master Tommy Wynn.

Friday, October 23, 2015

Week 4 rules

It is an EVEN week which means:

Two pitch
Bunting IS allowed

The additional wacky rule is GAMBLING! If you make it safely to base you can gamble by playing Rock-Paper-Scissors against the fielder at your base. If you win you move on to the next base, if you lose you’re out. You can continue to gamble until you score or you lose if you so choose. Only the active kicker can initiate the gamble. Once someone behind you kicks, you've lost your chance.

If you are losing, use this rule! Many teams forget and do not try it!

Thursday, October 15, 2015

Week 3 is THEME WEEK!

It's theme week!  The theme is "SPACE!"  Dress up accordingly and take photos to be submitted to the board for voting.  3 teams with the best theme week photos will receive 3 social points.  Everyone who participates will receive one.  Photoshop IS allowed this week but you must also submit your regular photo along with it.

How does voting work? Captains will vote on which team best portrayed the weekly theme. This should take into account both actual field presence and the final photo. The vote will be blind (anonymous) and only one vote per team will be allowed. If more than one captain from a team votes, the first vote will be the one counted. The votes will be tallied by a voting committee consisting of board members from 3 different teams to make sure everything remains fair.

Theme week also means DJ Chris Kim will be spinning at Happy Ending so bring your dancing shoes!

This is an ODD numbered week which means:
- Pitch to your own team
- Bunting is NOT allowed

This week's additional wacky rules is:
Backwards base running. Third is first, first is third. Don't forget! Runners must run CLOCKWISE around the bases. If you run the wrong way you must come back through home plate to go the correct way. You cannot cut through the infield.

See you guys on the field!

Week 2 info

Using your blog tabs ^^^ above

  • The schedule is finalized!
  • The standings are updated as well.
  • If you have lost or found anything, please email me at danielle@kickball.com so I can add it to the Lost & Found page. I will post pictures of anything I find at the field or bar.
  • Take a moment to familiarize yourself with your board members. They help to determine rules, plan parties and do their best to make your experience as fun as possible. If you have suggestions, let them know!

RULES:
This week is an EVEN numbered week which means we play with Two Pitch and Bunting IS allowed!

The additional rule is Dodgeball: If a fielder attempts to peg a runner and the runner catches it - the runner is safe and the fielder who threw it is out for the rest of that inning only. They cannot be replaced, fielders will go down a player.

What is Two Pitch?
You get two pitches only.  This keeps the game moving quickly and everyone gets to kick more. The first pitch is kind of a freebie.  If you kick it into play it is a LIVE BALL.  If you foul it off or let it go by you (be it ball or strike) you get another pitch. The SECOND pitch counts no matter what.
Foul = out
Ball = walk
Strike = out
In play = game on
*Taking walks is not illegal but highly discouraged.  Let's put it into play guys!

Lastly, this week will be a GAME WEEK at the bar! We will have an additional game at the bar for prizes (not points). This will occur weeks 2, 5 and 8. Stay tuned for this week's info!

Week 1 Wacky Rules and Schedule

Check out the schedule for this Sunday.  Please do not worry about the rest of the dates. They are not set in stone and will need some adjusting. Those will be finalized next week.

Rules:
  • Pitch to your own team
  • No bunting: Swing for the fences, full extension of the leg, must at LEAST cross the encroachment line
  • Helping Hands:  All outfielders must hold hands before the ball is kicked. A minimum of 5 outfielders is required. If the outfielders break hands before the ball is kicked it will be treated as encroachment.

WEEK 10 RULES

This week our field points are worth TRIPLE (9 - win, 3 - tie, 0 - loss)!
These match-ups are based on your field rankings. 1 will play 2, 3 plays 4, 15 v 16, etc. Because these will be more evenly matched games, they are likely to be close ones. Please make sure to be respectful of the refs and to each other. Only your captains should be speaking to the refs.

RULES:

Two pitch

Bunting IS allowed

Cha-Ching!! (Automatic One Base Bonus):  If the kick is a single, then the player is awarded 2nd base. If it’s a double than the runner goes to third. If it’s a triple the runner goes home for a home run! This only applies to the kicker, unless the previous kicker is forced to the next base, in that case - they will advance also. If you kick a home run you will score and can go back to first base. Again, this only applies to the kicker. So if the bases were loaded and the kicker kicks a home run, everyone scores and once the play is called dead only the kicker goes back onto base (first).

Week 9 Rules - UPDATED!

Remember - field points are worth double this week! Two pitch

NO bunting

Gambling: If you make it safely to a base you can gamble by playing Rock Paper Scissors against the baseman. If you win, you move on to the next base. If you lose, you are out. You can only begin to gamble at the first base you stop on. If you get safely to 1st base but stop there, that's where your gamble must begin. If you kick a double you can start at 2nd, a triple can start at 3rd. You cannot decide to start it on 2nd or 3rd IF you stopped on first base and did not initiate it there. Basically only the active kicker can initiate a gambleYou can continue to gamble for as long as you want - until you score or you are out, but it must begin on the first base stopped at.
If you have runners on the base(s) directly in front of you, they will move forward as well but only when they are directly in front of you in a force situation.
1st Ex:  You get to 1st base and there is a runner on 2nd.  You gamble and win, both runners move forward a base.
2nd Ex:  You get to 1st base and there is no runner on 2nd but there is a runner on 3rd.  You gamble and win, only you move forward to 2nd base. The runner at 3rd stays there. However, if you continue to gamble at 2nd base and win, then both runners will progress.
3rd Ex: You get to 1st base and there are runners on 2nd and 3rd (ie. bases are now loaded). You gamble and win. You move to 2nd, 2nd moves to 3rd and the runner on 3rd scores.
4th Ex: No one is one base. You kick a double. You can start the gamble at second base. If you do not start it then and there you are no longer allowed to initiate a gamble on the following plays at 2nd base or when you get to 3rd base.
Refs should be in charge of monitoring the RPS games so there are no conflicts. RSP will go 1-2-3-shoot.

Every time we use this rule, people often forget about it. If you're team is losing it is an especially good tine to consider it. Take advantage of the rule guys!

WEEK 9 IS THEME WEEK!

Our theme:  'MERICA

Make sure to take pics for theme week voting.

DJ Chris Kim will be spinning at Happy Ending.

Party on Wayne!

Week 9 is also our first week of field ranking match-ups.  1 will play 16, 2 will play 15, 3 v 14 and so on.  The field points this week are DOUBLE (6 for a win, 2 for a tie, 0 for a loss). The bar points will be worth the normal amount (3 win/1 participation).

Why are we playing top seeds vs bottom? Well this is a chance for the lower ranked teams to catch up a bit if they happen to pull an upset.  In our final week we will put top seeds vs each other and do the same for bottom seeds (ie. 1 v 2, 3 v 4, 15 v 16, etc) where field points are worth TRIPLE.

Here is the schedule based on the following field standings:
1.  TWERK
2. Orange Is the New Zini
3. Bastards
4. I Blue Myself
5. Ball About That Base
6. CHLA Ballers
7. Still Rollin
8. Real Ballers Wear Pink
9. #BallsDeep
10. Optikicks Prime
11. Where My Pitches At
12. Ball Of Duty
13. Saved By The Ball
14. Balls In The Family
15. I Don't Bunt With You
16. Better Call Ball

Week 7 Rules

Two pitch

No bunting

Huddle Up:  ALL fielders (other than the pitcher, catcher and ONE roving fielder that can be placed anywhere) must huddle together with arms around each other and stay that way until the ball is kicked.  You must be shoulder to shoulder and cannot "stretch" your huddle with wider arms.  You can place your huddle anywhere on the field as long as it is behind the encroachment line.

Reminders:

1. Fighting, pushing, shoving or physical aggression of any kind WILL NOT BE TOLERATED at the field, the bar or any WAKA event.

2.  Standing in the base path is dangerous. We have had several collisions and many more close calls. A fielder cannot block a base or stand in the path of the runner unless they are making a play for the ball. It is not safe for either party and we don't want anyone injured.
